An individual who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on 28 November.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor explained objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his family member alerted the police about his concerns.
She stated Ruben continued to conduct the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the police again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
